Department of Social Work , DU joins hands with J&K Police for Soft Skills Development Training of the Kashmir Police Personnel - 10-21 February 2014

Department of Social Work , University of Delhi(Delhi School of Social Work ) and J&K Police have collaborated in the landmark initiative of providing training to the executive police of Kashmir on soft skills for better public police interface.
The initiative was undertaken under the leadership of Dr. Pamela Singla, Associate Professor, Department of Social Work who coordinated the programme with her team comprising of 21 students from the University of Delhi; a consultant and three faculty who acted as the facilitators for the programme. The 21 students from various disciplines such as Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology and Law, underwent an intensive training of trainers (ToT) of five days (10th-14th February, 2014) at the Department of Social Work, before imparting the training to the Kashmir police.
The programme schedule included both the theoretical and practical sessions on Kashmir, soft skills, communication, negotiation and leadership. A total of 11,000 police personnel have been covered in the training conducted in Kashmir (17th -21st February, 2014) in 14 districts spread over the three ranges of Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag.
